Latin American Coffee

The coffee history of our families dates back to the beginning of the century, when European emigrants arrived in the new continent, America, and fell in love with coffee growing, initiated in the 18th century by the president of that time , Captain General Gerardo Barrios, who brought the plant from the distant lands in the east of the planet, Ethiopia, to later plant it in the east of El Salvador and from there it spreads throughout the country. Coffee was so successful that it replaced indigo, which had been our largest export item. Between 1950 and 1970, Salvadoran coffee growing was the protagonist of a technological modernization, new varieties were introduced, such as bourbon, and the Coffee Research Institute was created. These factors, together with two decades of political stability, made the country one of the most productive in the world, enjoying a respectful image for its quality worldwide.

Many years have passed since then, new varieties have emerged maintaining the unique flavor that penetrates with the richness of our volcanic soils and the enviable tropical climate of our region, giving us coffee with different attributes depending on the growing region. That same fervor from the beginning of the century runs in the blood of coffee families throughout the region, becoming a tradition of generations that has modernized its cultivation and marketing.

Grupo Osmio recognizes the benefits of coffee from different producing countries as well as the different tastes of consumers around the world, which is why we form an alliance with coffee producers from different Latin American countries to be able to offer a full range of flavors and satisfy the tastes and needs of each of our clients in different continents.

To remember the soil where our coffee-growing ancestors settled in the Tecapa-Chinameca Mountain Range on the East and the Apaneca-ILamatepec Mountain Range on the West, we created a brand that represents for us the roots of our families in El Salvador, gathering the coffee growing at the east and west side of the country, wishing to offer you the different varieties of the area as coffee of single origin and our own blends in roasted coffee from different countries.
